How to Sign in Windows 10 without Password
Remembering password can be really difficult, and they might not always be necessary. For example, if you are using a Windows PC and nobody else have access to that PC other than you, you might consider signing in without a password.
If you already have set a login password for your Windows 10 PC, here are a few steps that you can take to remove password from Windows 10 and login without password.
For Latest Windows 10 Version (21H1 and Later)
We heard a few complains that the traditional method won’t work on latest Windows 10, 21H1as an example. The option “users must enter a username and password to use this computer” is not available at this time.
This usually happens on a computer that signs in with a Microsoft account. You have to convert Microsoft account to a local account in order to disable password login from latest Windows 10.
How to Convert a Microsoft Account into Local Account
Press Start, go to Settings->Accounts -> Your info on the left panel.
Click on the option on the right side of the panel which says Sign in with a local account instead.
It will show a window which basically asks you to backup your data. In case you have not done that already, click Close and back up and repeat from step 1, otherwise, press Skip this step.
It will ask you for a confirmation on whether you want to convert Microsoft account into a local account, press Next.
It asks you to enter the current password, or Window Hello PIN. After that, give an user name to new local account and leave the password fields blank and press Next.
Finally, click on Sign out and finish. The entire process might take several minutes, but once done, you will have a local account created and you can use the following methods (introduced below) to sign in Windows 10 without password.
For Old Windows 10 Version
Bypassing login window in old versions of Windows 10 is pretty simple by following the tactics shared in below. However, please remember to double check each step as you would be changing system settings, and if you do not do them right you might end up with an unusable Windows 10 PC.
Method 1: netplwiz
Press Start, go to Settings -> Accounts -> Sign-in Options on the left.
Now disable Window Hello sign-in option.
Next, Press Start, type “run” without the quotes, and then press Enter.
In the Run dialog box that pops up, type “netplwiz”, without the quotes, and press OK.
A User Accounts window would pop up where you would find all the users of your Windows PC listed. Select the user for whom you would like to sign in without the password.
Once you have selected the user, look for a checkbox at the top which says “Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer.”. Uncheck it and press OK.
If done properly, you should get another popup box that will ask for current login password. Ensure that the user name in that popup box is the one for whom you would like to sign in without the password, enter the password, twice, and finally press OK
Method 2: Windows Registry Editor
Press Start, type “run” without the quotes, and then press Enter. Type “regedit” in the Run dialog box, without the quotes, and press Enter.
Go to the below key in the Registry Editor using the tree like structure on the left side of the screen.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
On the right side of the screen, look for an entry named DefaultUserName, double click on that entry and make sure that your Microsoft account or local user account name is appearing under the Value data box and press OK.
Now, look for another entry named DefaultPassword. If it’s not there, you need to create it by right-clicking on the empty space at the right side of the window, clicking New, and then clicking String Value. Rename it to “DefaultPassword” and enter your password in the Value data box and click the OK button.
Finally, look for the entry labeled AutoAdminLogon, double click on it, and then change its value from 0 (zero) to 1 (one)
Once done, close Registry Editor, restart Windows 10 PC, and you will be able to login without any password.
However, all said and done, I would personally not suggest you to sign in windows 10 without password. It provides good security to a Windows PC in case you have sensitive documents stored in them.
